Editorial Policy
Our promise is simple: testing first, loyalty to readers, and radical clarity about how we work. Here’s how we keep our reviews useful, fair, and independent.
Independence & Ethics
- We do not sell placements or accept payment for positive coverage.
- Affiliate commissions never change our test protocol, scoring, or recommendations.
- Conflicts of interest are disclosed on page; contributors recuse themselves where needed.
How We Source Products
- Mix of retail purchases and short‑term loaners. Loans do not guarantee coverage, timing, or outcomes.
- Loaned units are returned or clearly disclosed if retained for long‑term testing.
- When we buy retail, we state it. When a unit is provided, we state that too.
Review Process
- Standardized methodology across noise, retention, particle distribution, heat, workflow, and cup testing (see “How We Test”).
- Recommendations are mapped to use cases (espresso, pour‑over, press, travel) and living contexts (apartments, shared spaces).
- Every claim must be supported by measurement, repeatable observation, or clearly labeled opinion.
Corrections & Updates
- If we get something wrong, we fix it—clearly and promptly—with an editorial note detailing what changed and why.
- We revisit reviews when firmware/hardware revisions or long‑term reliability data warrant updates.
User Feedback & Evidence
- We welcome reader data (e.g., retention measurements, alignment fixes). When we incorporate user findings, we credit and verify before publishing.
Monetization Transparency
- We use affiliate links where appropriate; see our Affiliate Disclosure for details. Monetization does not affect testing or verdicts.
